The big news is that the number of women playing online casino games has rocketed in the last few years. In fact, it is now almost four times the 2007 level. We are now at a point where the number of female players is very nearly on level terms with the male equivalent. 48.38% of players are now female, and those people who paid attention during their maths classes will know that this means that 51.62% are male.

What Caused the Change?

So why has this drastic change come about in such a relatively short space of time? Well, it seems that the ladies feel safe and comfortable going online to play some games. While they might not have been happy with the idea of going to a land based casino and being surrounded by men and serious gamblers, many have discovered that online casino playing is a fun and light hearted sort of a way to spend a few hours.
Now, of course, we are seeing more casino sites and promotions which are aimed at female wagerers.

This looks like a smart move on behalf of the big gaming companies and could well lead to the number of female players moving past the 50% mark at some point in the near future.
